POSITION SUMMARY: To provide skills and knowledge in the areas of agriculture and earth sciences. Provide experiences for students to utilize their skills, develop leadership opportunities, and connect skills to the work place. To integrate technology into the curriculum.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to be certified as a career and technical education instructor in the area of agriculture or related areas. Science teaching endorsements or strong background in science preferred. Ability to meet highly qualified criteria is preferred. Industry-related background and experience in agriculture, or related occupations preferred. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with students, staff, parents, and the business community. Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment across department or curricular areas.
SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Integrate and teach state science standards as part of the agriculture curriculum to prepare students to pass the state high school proficiency exam.
Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units projects, etc., and clearly communicate these to students.
Provide for own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading workshops, seminars, conferences, district staff development, and advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
Such other duties as may be assigned by the principals and/or the professional technical director.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Continuing contract for the 2009-2010 school year with salary, medical, vision and dental insurance provided as per collective bargaining agreement. Presently for the 2009-10 school year, salary is based on the 2008-09 salary schedule.
