Position Description:
| THIS POSTING ESTABLISHES A POOL OF CANDIDATES FOR INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANTS FOR LEARNING CENTERS AT VARIOUS SCHOOLS DURING THE 2009/10 SCHOOL YEAR AS VACANCIES ARISE.
PAY RANGE: $14.47 - $17.63 PAY GRADE: 9
WORK YEAR: Various HOURS/DAY: Various

POSITION SUMMARY:
The position assists the teacher in planning and implementing an appropriate educational program for students with disabilities. Performs a variety of classroom tasks and acts as an instructional assistant. Monitors student progress in the areas of social, emotional and academic growth. Demonstrates effective communication skills with staff & students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent behavioral management skills.
- Ability to work with students who display a wide range of learning disabilities.
- Instructional experience with groups or individual students.
- Knowledge of pre-academic and academic teaching strategies.
- Ability to adapt standard educational curriculum to the specialized needs of students with disabilities.
- Experience working with students from a variety of diverse abilities and backgrounds.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY:
Completion of at least two years of post-secondary study consisting of 72 credit hours, 48 semester units; OR obtaining an associates or higher degree; OR meeting a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrating, through a formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing and mathematics.
