Position Description:

School District 4J is accepting applications for the purpose of establishing an on-going pool of candidates. Applications will be accepted until a sufficient number of candidates have applied.

 

HOURLY RATE:  $9.00/hr

ASSIGNMENT:  On-Call; Variable hours and sites


 
POSITION SUMMARY:

Eugene School District 4J is currently accepting applications for CLASSIFIED SUBSTITUTE (INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT) to substitute as Instructional Assistants in the Special Education programs, classroom programs, and some clerical assignments.  Substitutes are assigned on an on-call basis with variable hours.  

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Have a student-centered focus.
  • Experience working with special needs students is highly desirable.
  • Bilingual & bicultural (Spanish, Japanese, French, Korean, Chinese, etc.) skills and abilities are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of behavior modification and instructional techniques helpful.
  • Ability to work effectively with students in small groups and individually on reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Ability to effectively use office technology and computers.
  • Ability to quickly learn to use instructional technologies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, families, and staff from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
  • Must be flexible and willing to report to different schools depending on need.

Note: Consistent declinations to be dispatched as needed will result in termination and removal from the substitute dispatch list.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must pass criminal background check.
  • Minimum Education:
    • Completion of at least two years of post-secondary study consisting of 72 credit hours, 48 semester units; OR
    • Obtaining an associates or higher degree; OR
    • Meeting a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrating, through a formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing and mathematics.
