Frequently Asked Questions
What makes EducatorZapp different from other recruiting applications?
EdZapp is based on actual K-12 business workflow, built from the "ground up" based on best practices found at school districts ranging in size from one hundred to one million students. Functionality for school districts is based on three essential process ?steps?:
- Searching - the ability to quickly and precisely narrow a large applicant pool into a manageable set of highly qualified job candidates.
- Screening - the addition or annotation of information regarding a candidate at the district level, such as inserting comments/ratings, interview notes, uploading documents received, monitoring application status, etc.
- Hiring ? the ability to complete the selection and assignment process. Once the decision to hire a candidate is made, the focus of the functionality changes from highly effective searching and screening to highly efficient personnel workflow management. This module is designed to facilitate the assembly of required documentation and verifications, designate work assignments, and export that data to the payroll system/department.
EdZapp provides the first site of its kind in the nation to enable a truly paperless ?application-through-hire? process. With EdZapp?s credentials management service, supplemental materials traditionally received only in hard copy (official transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc.) will be scanned, authenticated, and posted to selected districts electronically in Adobe .PDF format.
Our key ingredient is the combination of a standardized solution with the ability to customize at the service districts and district levels. And unlike other proprietary systems, EdZapp is designed to exchange data with your existing statewide databases and district payroll systems. Our highly flexible solution helps you maximize your current investments.
EdZapp has distinguished itself as the only ?truly paperless? application for school districts. Read what District Administration magazine says about EdZapp helping districts ?Beat the Hiring Frenzy.?
Does it include "Administrative" and "Classified" in addition to Licensed/Certified?
Yes. EducatorZapp is designed expressly for the education sector including administration, classified staff, and certified positions. Districts using EdZapp's Private Label features can custom-build their separate classified, coaching, and certified applications with our easy to use interface. You choose what sections of the application you want your applicants to fill out.
What are the hardware requirements, and how long does it take to install?
EducatorZapp is a "hosted" web-based application; you only need a current web browser (Netscape Navigator 6.1 or later, or Internet Explorer 5.5 or later). You can access it from your district office, your schools, from home, or any Internet-connected machine in the world! No installation is necessary; once your account is activated, you will be given an address (URL) and login information to begin using the services. Updates and enhancements are automatic and require no installations.
Does EducatorZapp integrate with my payroll system?
Yes, but not in a way that requires complex programming or changes to your payroll software for the integration. EducatorZapp comes with the capability to electronically export the data fields required by your payroll system to set up a new employee, and the Enterprise version allows you to easily select which fields should be exported, create new fields specific to your district or system, and set permissions on who can perform the export. Supported export formats include html, XML, csv, rtf, and soon SOAP. In addition, we are in the process of forming partnerships with a number of vendors who provide HR/Payroll systems so that the integration work does not have to be at your expense.
Can I use the "recruiting module" of my HR/Payroll system (e.g. Lawson, BiTech, PeopleSoft, etc) or another product like "eRecruiting" instead?
There is a difference between being "capable of performing" a function, and being "designed to perform" that function. These other systems are designed for typical private sector recruiting and hiring and have been adapted for school systems and licensed teacher hiring practices. They all require considerable configuration up-front and ongoing maintenance, and typically require additional training to operate. Keep in mind that they rely on applicants to find your district, fill out your application, and submit additional documentation to you (and every other district they are interested in), rather than simply checking a box to include your district. EducatorZapp will allow Enterprise subscribers to include specific questions to candidates through the dynamically generated application form: if an applicant selects your district to apply to, your questions will become part of his/her application and available exclusively to you. The whole point of the EducatorZapp concept is to attract quality applicants by making it easy for them to apply and for you to find them... both benefits are diminished by not using EducatorZapp.
How much does EducatorZapp cost?
EducatorZapp is in business to help you transform your hiring process so that more effort (and dollars) can go into the classroom and the teachers who serve there - rather than to the administrative paperwork involved in finding and hiring those teachers. Please contact us for pricing information so we can design a quote based on your districts size and needs.
Should we bring our building administrators (principals) to training?
While we do not expect principals to need training in the application per se, you should assess your district?s technology culture to determine whether training might be useful as "change management? to introduce them to a new automated process. That is, most anyone who has used a web browser to fill out an online form should be able to use the application without any formal training, but if you fear that your administrators might be resistant to changing how they search, screen, and hire applicants, consider including them.
How do I sign up?
Fill out and submit EducatorZapp's Request For Information form or email us at sales@edzapp.com. We will contact you based on the information you provide.
