Tips for ADDING INFORMATION to your EdZapp resume:

Only use “Other” when there is nothing suitable on the list.  Districts often search on the criteria in the dropdown lists and you want them to find you!  For example, “All Sports” won’t be found in a search for “Baseball”

Use the “Notes” field to further explain when you have chosen “Other”.

In the Skills/Special Training module, be sure to create a new entry for each skill, training, sport, etc.

The most important tip is BE COMPLETE!!!

What should you gather?

• Transcripts–for most districts you will not need Official transcripts for your application but you will need copies of your Unofficial transcripts.  Order them now.  You can update them later as needed.  (Note:  you will need ALL transcripts)
• Letters of Reference–most districts request 3 letters of reference for teaching applicants.  Give your letter writers plenty of time.  They’ll thank you later.
• Resume–you don’t necessarily need a professional resume for all of your applications but it is a good to at the very least have all the information gathered.  That way when the time comes to complete your online application you have everything at your fingertips.
• EdZapp Application–UPDATE IT NOW!!!  Now is the time to look over what you have previously entered and make edits.  If you can’t remember your login click on “Having Trouble Logging In” to retrieve your information.   BE COMPLETE!!

The more you have done prior to the hiring season the better.  Won’t it be nice to just have to search and apply to jobs rather than rush around trying to meet a deadline?

Research the districts you want to teach for and be aware of their open positions

Complete your Zapplication and apply to positions on EdZapp

The majority of districts in Oregon use EdZapp to recruit teachers.  Be prepared for districts who want to know if you have applied using EdZapp already.

Know how you want to present yourself to districts

Practice making the right impression on district personnel.  Come dressed to impress and ready to show them what you are made of by preparing a 20-30 second statement about why you are the best fit for them.  Be sure to bring several copies of your resume.
